Don’t spoil Wolves result, urges Crawley boss

John Gregory has urged his Crawley side not to ‘spoil’ their famous win over Wolves with a bad performance at Oldham on Saturday.

Billy Clarke and Matt Tubbs netted as Reds came from behind to beat the League One leaders on Tuesday night, in front of a record league crowd at the Stadium.

But boss Gregory said the victory over the former Premier League side would seen be forgotten if they didn’t back it up at Boundary Park this weekend.

He said: “We all enjoyed beating Wolves – especially the fans – but in football one of the great truisms is you are only as good as your last game.

“It’s a cliché but that’s because it’s true. If we don’t get a result on Saturday Wolves won’t mean nearly as much.

“Oldham have got some dangerous players and, like us, they have a lot to play for.

“Our attitude and approach to this game has to be the same as it was for Wolves and so must the execution of our game plan.”

Gregory said the players had not overcelebrated the victory against Wolves and had immediately focused their attentions on the next match.

He said: “As soon as the game finished they were all talking about the need to make sure we don’t spoil two good results with a bad one.

“The club have only ever won three in a row at this level once so it would be great to match that and then kick on next Tuesday against Sheffield United.”

Crawley have no new injury concerns, with Rory Fallon fit again after a sore heel.
