Tonbridge match like ‘a mini cup final’ – King

Whitehawk boss Steve King has described Saturday’s clash with fellow Conference South strugglers Tonbridge Angels as ‘a mini cup final’.

Hawks are two points behind Tonbridge, having played a game more, ahead of their match at the Enclosed Ground.

King’s side impressed when drawing 1-1 with third-placed Ebbsfleet last Saturday and caused leaders Eastleigh a few concerns despite losing 4-1 in midweek.

Now, though, he knows it is time to start picking up points if they want to avoid an immediate return to Ryman Premier Division.

King said: “Tonbridge and ourselves are both in the same boat. Both of us, as managers, will be looking to win this game. It is a mini cup final.

“We still have to play Dorchester, Hayes and Yeading, Tonbridge, Boreham Wood and Maidenhead. It is a league within a league and we must collect enough points.”
